Premier Leaugue review – 36° round (by Wayne Bills)0

The battle to avoid the final relegation spot is really getting tight in the premier league after the weekends results with up to 8 teams still in danger of the drop after 18th place Wigan had a terrific 3-2 win at West Brom to close right up on the rest , they stay in the bottom 3 but with a crucial game in hand , West Brom stay 8th.

Newcastle are far from safe after a 0-0 draw at West Ham that leaves them 16th and 3 points above the bottom 3 , the Hammers stay 10th. Norwich are back in trouble after a 2-1 home defeat to Aston Villa who are now climbing away from danger thanks to 2 goals from Agbonlahor  , they climb to 13th but are not safe just yet , Norwich drop to 15th just 3 points above the bottom 3. Southampton are also yet to secure safety after a late Bale winner gave Tottenham a 1-0 win at White Hart Lane, they drop to 14th and 4 points above the drop zone , Spurs stay 5th and in the hunt for a top 4 finish still.

Arsenal are 4th tho after grinding out a narrow 1-0 win at already relegated Qpr thanks to an early Walcott strike , Qpr stay bottom. Chelsea look favourates to grab 3rd after a late Mata goal gave them a 1-0 win at Old Trafford against an under strength Manchester United to stay 3rd 2 points ahead of Arsenal. Manchester City strengthened there grip on 2nd with a 0-0 draw at Swansea who stay 9th. the merseyside derby also ended goaless at Anfield as Everton’s champions league hopes ended , but they look good to finish ahead of there neighbours and stay 6th with Liverpool 7th.

Fulham are not quite safe either after a surprise 4-2 home defeat to already doomed Reading with Robson-Kanu grabbing 2 goals and at least look like not finishing bottom , Fulham 12th are just 5 points above the bottom 3 as the table tightens up. tonight sees a vital clash between Sunderland 17th and Stoke 11th with both sides needing the points , there are also 2 vital midweek games with Chelsea and Spurs battling over a top 4 place and Wigan hosting Swansea desperate for a win to stay in touch at the bottom.
